GPAs in Powerschool have various methods and formulas that can be setup.  This Article covers the specific GPA titled "Current GPA".  This GPA method has a formula that will be used when calculating grades.  In order to Troubleshoot this particular GPA (Current GPA) you will need to keep the following in mind: 

• Calculation Type / Source
• Formula
• Current Grade Display
• Exclude from GPA?

This particular GPA uses the following settings as mentioned above.  Calculation type/source is set to "Current" grades.  This means that the grades need not be stored in order for this GPA to work.  The limitation here is that you can only report 1 Term at a time.  Formula is set to "round((sum(gpa_gpapoints())/gpa_count()),4)" which is a pretty standard GPA calculation where all GPA points are added up and divided by the number of classes.  This Current Grade Display setting is found under School Setup > Current Grade Display.  It is the Active term box that is used to calculate "Current GPA".  This Active Term will need to be updated at the end of each marking period.  Lastly the "Exclude from GPA" setting can be used to exclude or include certain classes' grades in the GPA.  Some classes that may be excluded could be specials like PE, ART, Music.  To get access to this setting you will need to Edit the Section of each class and set it to include or exclude.  

 

Section - Include in GPA

In order for grades to be included in the GPA, the section associated with the grade must be set to Include for the setting Exclude from GPA. Or, if the setting is set to Same as course, the course must be set to include the grade in the GPA. Configure this setting at Start Page > School > Sections > Select course > Select section > Exclude from GPA
