Powerschool Admin - Enabling Re-Registration and Sibling Registration

Summary of Page

This article is aimed to show Powerschool Admins how to Mass Enable and Mass Disable the Parent Portal Re-Registration customization.  This is a feature that was added to the Parent Portal to allow parents to log onto the website and fill in all of their information for Re-Registering for the upcoming school year.  Additionally there is a Sibling Registration feature that is also added to the Parent Portal that allows parents to register a younger sibling to the school.  If the student is already registered to the school then please DO NOT use the sibling registration.  Please contact the school to help ADD an additional student to the parent account.  To use the Parent Portal account you will need the following:

 

Enable Re-Registration

 To enable access to Parent Portal Re-Registration you will need to have access to the admin portal.  The Enable field is a student field that can be accessed through the "Student Field Value" field change feature.  You will need to use this feature to mass change all students from 0 to 1 allowing parents to submit their Re-Registrations online.  When you want to disable you will just do the reverse which is to set the student field back to 0 from 1.  Follow these steps to get started:

  •  Log on to the Admin Portal
  • Select "ALL" from the Start Page
  • On the lower right hand side of the screen click the Arrow button to bring up a list of Group Functions
  • On the Group Functions menu look for and select "Student Field Value"
  • On the Student Field Value you are going to want to type in the following: 
  • Click Submit
  • Review the screen and confirm changes by clicking Submit again at the bottom of the list.

Once you have completed the steps listed above you have now given you parents access to the Parent Portal Re-Registration tool.  You can now ask your parents to log onto the Parent Portal and look for a Registration link on the lower left hand side to begin.  

 

NOTE: Once Parents have submitted their forms, On the admin portal you will see those submissions to the right of the search box.  This is where you will see a cluster of buttons that my be greyed out if there are NO forms submitted.

 

Disable Re-Registration

To Turn OFF access to the Parent Portal Re-Registration you will need to make a field value change for Registration_Enable from 1 back to 0, disabling the access or ability to submit any further Registrations online.   You will want to do this so that Parents don't accidentally fill out the Registration form at odd times during the academic school year.  To disable the feature you will want to do the following: 

  •  Log on to the Admin Portal
  • Select "ALL" from the Start Page
  • On the lower right hand side of the screen click the Arrow button to bring up a list of Group Functions
  • On the Group Functions menu look for and select "Student Field Value"
  • On the Student Field Value you are going to want to type in the following: 
  • Click Submit
  • Review the screen and confirm changes by clicking Submit again at the bottom of the list.

Once you have completed the steps listed above the parents should no longer be able to submit any more forms through the Parent Portal.  Disabling the Re-Registration feature will also disable the Sibling Registration feature, they are both connected with the same field.
