Temporary profile log in error
Posted by Jimmy Ayala on 11 September 2012 12:15 PM
I have seem to have found the source of the problem.

It seems that there might have been an issue with the image, so whenever the teachers logged in, it was actually logging them in but with a temporay profile as there was a corrupt system file. To solve the issue without reimaging and/or messing other things you have to do the following.

1) open Regedit
2) expand Hkey_local_Machine
3) expand software
4) expand microsoft
5) expand windows nt
6) expand profile list

In profile list you will be looking for a an SID.bak(Note sid looks something like: S1-23-17847647347-89474)

You delete the SID withe the .bak extension, once you have done this log off and log back in and you are good. This must be done as an administrator. This could have cause issues with some courrption with the Res software because installation probably happen during this temp profile log in. It seems that some of the computers have fixed themselves but we will delete the remains of this courrption to ensure issues can be resolve. This should help out we won't see until teachers use the program. Also another corruption was with the hidden recycling bin. To fix this as this also causes issues you will open the command prompt under admin and enter

rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

This will delete that courrpt bin and set things in correct order. Only do this if that error shows up.
